Houston’s Most Hated | Everything you hate. And, one thing you love.

You gotta make sexy!

Hips and nips - or i’m not eating.

when groups leak out onto the blog scene, you tend to gather mixed reviews from good to bad all exploring the groups inner problems and drama.

i’ve yet to find a bad one on this one here . we’ve loved Joeseph for some time. we would never believe those things about him.

that’s why i’ll keep it to the facts and not spread those lies.

Into the Galaxy and landing back into Australia.

midnightjuggernauts

it’s Aussie Monday yet again here at HMH. No we won’t be changing our names to AMH, better yet we should work on a Australia’s Most Hated. Because the more i hear the more i’m begging to hate too.

galaxy-

Here’s a new Video from a band we haven’t brought up yet. The Midnight Juggernauts, this band also out of Australia, has been hitting the bloggers scene for some time now. With their sound like Bowie in his digital era these young lads from down under bring it to us in danse form. Remixing and making their own sound the Midnight Juggernauts are far from slacking. Plan to hear more great stuff from this group here.

Some new and old remixes from the groups new album which released back in April titled Dystopia.

Damn Dabrye Damn

Here at HMH don’t think we’re just soley into that blogemo dance stuff. I mean don’t get us wrong, we love the club too but…

Andrew WK for Dabrye

For a while now i’ve been worshiping to this Dabrye figure off of Ghostly International, Dabrye is also known as James T Cotton, and or Tadd Mullinix. Which one he prefers to be called at this current state? we’re not so sure of? Tadd has seemed to be sticking with this JTC theme lately? Now this doesn’t mean we’re mad at him, because he’s banging it out in that area too but we will re-visit those different genres of Tadd another day.

for today is Dabrye

from the first album to the last.

we love you Dabrye Damn.

Van She is Technically hot

Van She

I told you about those Aussies didn’t I ?! How we would be jocking the hell out of their bands and music all the time. Well here comes another one up from down under. Van She, once said to be the best looking band in the Bloggasphere is making their way to Houston’s Most Hated.

i love these Wikipedia discriptions.

Van She is a band from SydneyAustralia. Their label, Modular Recordings, describes Van She as a “new band from Sydney fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince.”[1] Despite these claims, the band began with a sound very much rooted in the 80s, heavy on synthesizer, although later material reflects a more textured sound.

It began in 2005 when band members Nick Routledge, Matt Van Schie, Michael Di Francesco, and Tomek Archer all responded to an advertisement in Sydney’s Drum Media Magazine and arrived at an audition for a rock band with influences including SepulturaEntombedBlack Skull and Phil Collins.[citation needed] This chance meeting led to the creation of Van She

Nevermind

Nevermind

Imagine if millions of people had seen you naked before you were old enough to say “embarrassing.” That’s the story of Spencer Elden, whom you may know as the little baby floating towards a dollar bill on the cover of Nirvana’s 1991 album, Nevermind.

Nearly 17 years later, amid hating school and playing water polo, Elden is still struggling to make sense of his (very) public image.

“Quite a few people in the world have seen my penis,” he says from his home in Los Angeles. “So that’s kinda cool. I’m just a normal kid living it up and doing the best I can while I’m here.”

Nevermind is often credited with changing the face of rock. Elden’s naked participation in this important moment in music history was rather accidental; Kirk Weddle, the photographer working on the cover, was simply a friend of Spencer’s dad, Rick.

“[He] calls us up and was like, ‘Hey Rick, wanna make 200 bucks and throw your kid in the drink?,’” Rick recounts. “I was like, ‘What’s up?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m shooting kids all this week, why don’t you meet me at the Rose Bowl, throw your kid in the drink?’ And we just had a big party at the pool, and no one had any idea what was going on!”

Three months later, while driving down Sunset Blvd., the Elden family spotted a 9-foot-by-9-foot Spencer floating across Tower Records’ wall. Two months later, Geffen Records sent 1-year-old Spencer Elden a platinum album and a teddy bear.

Over the coming years, 26 million albums were sold. As Elden learned to walk, talk and sing — his pale baby arms stretched across millions of grungy fans’ walls; his private parts stood magnified across billboards and floors.

In some places, his image stuck. The other day, his friends spotted a giant Nevermind photo on the floor of a record store in Hollywood.

“My friend is all like, ‘Hey I saw you today.’ And I’m like, ‘Dude, I was working all day.’ And he’s like, ‘No, I went to Geffen Records, and you’re on the floor and you’re floating and I stepped on your face. ‘Cause I guess they have like a floating thing where people can like walk on me and stuff … so it’s kinda cool,” he says.

Life in general isn’t quite as “cool” as it was when he jumped naked in the pool in the early ’90s, though, he says. These days, his peers are too stuck on the Internet and video games. Ironically, he yearns for the era that gave Kurt Cobain, the lead singer for Nirvana, so much angst.

These days, Elden says, his peers concentrate on “playing Rock Band on Xbox, like, that’s not a real band! That’s the difference between the ’90s and kids nowadays; kids in the ’90s would actually go out and make a [real] band!”

But overall, life is good, he says. When he’s not being repressed by video games and computers, Elden blasts music — mostly techno — and carries around a big bag of angst, mostly around the fact that he is “so over” high school.

“Same people, same teachers … going to your locker, worrying about stupid girls … I wanna get something going, I wanna travel,” he says.

Last fall, travel he did — all the way to military boarding school for six months. All his parents will say is that he’s done his fair share of “testing authority.”

Now he’s trying to graduate from high school a year early. And he’s talking about applying to West Point or becoming an artist … or something.

As Spencer is wont to say, “I just take it as it comes. If I like it, I like it; if I don’t like it, I don’t like it.”

I think he pulled it off pretty well.  Don’t you? Houston, check out his myspace and tell him how much you hate him.

Running low on originality?

VS.

When you run out of ideas as a band, you can always count on making hits by revamping different decades’ tunes. This isn’t a Beach Boys tribute. It’s more like a deliberate attempt to be the Beach Boys around the time they were moving away from their Chuck Berry derived surf rock, and exploring where their expert feel for harmony and leader Brian Wilson’s awakening as one of the 1960s most adventurous and successful songwriters could take them. If someone didn’t tell you this actually an ensemble of twenty-somethings from Charleston, South Carolina, you’d assume this is a collection of never before released Beach Boys tracks, which raises odd critical issues. In terms of pure artistry, this is practically tracing. But in terms of pleasure, if you enjoy The Beach Boys circa Pet Sounds, then there’s no reason not to enjoy this note perfect replication. Truth told, the music is retro and gorgeous. “Forever,” “Don’t Forget the Sun,” “Do You Love Me?” are pure fun, from the high end falsettos and explosive harmonies to the perfect pummel of the drums. The Explorers Club’s catchy tunes will get you singing along after two or three choruses, and you won’t even know it.
