We are EXCITED to announce that a new Mitch Hedberg CD, titled “Do You Believe In Gosh?” which was released on September 9th, 2008.

You can order the CD here.

Recorded two months prior to his death, “Do You Believe In Gosh?” contains nearly 40 minutes of previously unreleased stand-up material. The CD captures most of the material Mitch was working on, for what would have been his next full-length album, in a free-form show with a large amount of audience interaction.

ACL AFTER PARTIES STOLEN FROM A BROOKLYN VEGAN

Stolen from the Vegan’s of Brooklyn

This September I’ll be returning to Austin for my first-ever visit to the annual three-day Austin City Limits Festival(see previous post for talk of the lineup). While I’m there, I also hope to catch at least one episode-taping for the 33rd season of the associated PBS series with the same name (Austin City Limits). Arcade Fire, Crowded House, Wilco, Bloc Party, Regina Spektor, and Lucinda Williams will all be there to play the festival, and to tape a show.

Then there are the afterparties - official and unofficial. Official afterparties (or aftershows as they call them) feature many of the same bands playing the festival. They happen at night at one of the various venues around Austin - Stubb’s, La Zona Rosa, The Parish, Emo’s and Antone’s to be exact. Anyone can buy tickets to the aftershows. They’ve got Spoon, The White Stripes (sold out), Common, Blonde Redhead, The National, etc..

I actually know very little about the unofficial afterparties, except that I helped put one together. It was a team effort between myself and the “Hot Freaks” otherwise known asan aquarium drunkardla blogothèquechromewavesgorilla vs bearmy old kentucky blog, and you ain’t no picasso. This group of ‘Hot Freaks’ worked together before - atSXSW. For ACL they asked if I felt like getting freaky, I said ‘yes’, and the rest is history.

Our parties take place at the Mohawk and at the adjoining Club Deville, on both Friday and Saturday after ACL. The shows are FREE (w/ some RSVP thing that’s going to be available after Labor Day), and all of our artists are NOT also playing ACL. We haveArt Brut, Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, The Rosebuds, Yellow Fever, Sparrow House (Jared from Voxtrot), and more. More details below….

These shows are also in conjunction with (sponsored by) Dell Lounge. Dell Lounge sponsors a stage at ACL, an ACL-related Battle of the Bands, and Dell Lounge will be the website where people can stream some of the ACL Festival performaces as they happen. This is also their party….

Lady Gaga is popping up all over the blogs

I don’t know what to think of her yet, but she’s pretty catchy… Something I would dance pretty hard to when I’ve had a couple of drinks. She’s been making lots of noise around the blogging world, seems some DJs can’t get enough of her, such as Matt Price who remixes her single with some old school samples. I have a feeling remixes of her single “Just Dance” are going to be blasted at the next big party/rave. Listen to these tracks for yourself, let us know what you think. Yay or nay?

She kinda looks like a white version of Santogold…

She has great taste in music, and that’s too bad she’s not here to spread the love.

or isn’t she…?

Enjoy

Baltimore is the New Brooklyn

Who knew ?

Being that we get a lot of music sent our way to Tracks@houstonsmosthated.com I guess we’re feeling the urge to at least blog about one of the artist that have come forth with music. I can’t say the same for most of the stuff we’ve received, actually it’s been a lot of bad RnB, Rap, and Gangsters that think they can rap type of sounds. One group though that kinda stood out was this group out of Chicago, called JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound. It seems some raw post-punk/soul fever has been missing from our site. Well we don’t like to discriminate.

So here’s something we thought you and Brett Koshkin should hear.

enjoy-

Server upgraded

While the server was knocked out by the hurricane I took the opportunity to do some upgrades!  And I even brought another server online that will help balance the load of running this site.  In addition an anonymous webhosting company has offered us space for a remote mirror/fail-over for our site.  Meaning when god finally decides to wipe Houston off the map, HMH will be preserved and remain online as a memorial to everything suck.  If we make it through such cataclysmic disaster alive we will continue to maintain the site.  Also we’re going to be adding some cool features in the next few days.  And we’re bringing in more photographers to work with us.  Stay tuned.

If you’re in houston you might as well go to www.fema.gov/assistance and fill out some forms.
