Houston’s Most Hated | Everything you hate. And, one thing you love. |
Friday November 7th @ The Meridian

2220 Commerce St. - Costumes, DJs, Adult Refreshments for Adults.
“You take a house DJ and make him play the drums, then you ask a Bowie-loving bassist who sings too, and finally you fill in an avantgarde jazz guitarist with a mean moustache. These are the main ingredients in trio WHOMADEWHO. A mouthwatering steew that enjoys things a bit stirred.”
It’s not like you would ever see them in Houston. Maybe Houston’s Most Hated, but not Houston Texas.
Who Made Who is bringing the sounds from overseas.
GO DENMARK!

…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Inland Sea
on a SOFTER NOTE! Check out Bishop Allen as well. They’re not anything like Trail of Dead, but they’re a cute little indie band. Nice, relaxing, and soft noises. Reminds me of the time in Hawaii when I was sitting next to this little old Hawaiian man on the beach, playing the ukulele… Very cute!!

See you haters out at Spookybox tonight! PEACE
Soooooooo Fun Fun Fun Fest is two weeks away.
The lineup is pretty fucking sweet.
Stay tuned into HMH this week to hear tracks from the performing artists at this year’s FUN FUN FUN FEST!

The theory behind Fun Fun Fun Fest was to create a fall festival experience that supported emerging artists, the creative class, local business, and bands we just love to see play, regardless of genre or MTV airplay. It is a true urban festival in the middle of downtown, where fans can get a burger from Spider House, some Brisket from Lamberts, a beer from a Club de Ville bartender, a pair of vintage boots from Big Rig, and T-shirt from their favorite band. A fest WE in the scene would want to go to, without all of the ‘filler’ that tends to show up at the corporate music carnivals around the world these days. Also, the FFF team makes sure that many of these shows end up in the streets of Austin after the fest, spilling out into Red River, and playing at local clubs into the night.
BE READY.

Keep your ears clean.

On Sunday, October 26, Joel from indiehouston.org put on a ridiculously indie, yet non-specific, drunken night of art. There was more art than the divine indie gods could ever imagine and what better place to host this cluster fuck than the Caroline Collective. The holly Sunday evening started with The Mathletes and their rich nerd pop sound. Don’t be fooled by their name, they’re not just going around and sodomizing calclators with their pencils…oh no…they destroy your ego with music. Their great vocal melodies and agonizing faces makes you want to pull up the high socks and walk-a-doddle around. After the Mathletes, oh!..look out for American Sharks yall…ready to shove the rock straight down your nose. Shit to get a girl pumped right before the black japanther group comes on. Yes, the black japanther group, formerly known as Fat Tony rapping those sweet words all around some fine lady’s legs. That’s right, Tony goes hard on the mic and plays plenty of shows to prove it. Next was the low-fi killer, Japanther. They did a great job actually getting a Houston crowd to have fun, something I haven’t seen in years. Boy, do those yankees know indie kids…and how to talk on the phone.
Apart from the amazing music and the drunken dancers, the crafts for sale were diverse and super neat. There were prints, shirts, pins, bandannas, etc…and all home made. These indies kids are too mature for crayons…I will tell you that.
The show was great. The crowd was having a blast (and the free beer does not get all the credit). I am proud of Houston kicking back and actually having fun one night, instead filling the room with of all the judging and awkwardness touring acts receive in this glorious city. The Caroline collective, as always, does not discourage the fun. And watch out for future indiehouston.org events…
