Because You Probably Missed It

Hailing from Baltimore is the dream pop duo known as Beach House.  Their sound is reminiscent of the shoe-gaze scene in the early 90s, including the buried vocals emphasizing texture more than lyrical content.  Their tracks burn slow, comprised of minimal synth and guitar (often slide) lines backed by simple drum machine patterns, all of it led by Victoria Legrand’s warm voice.

They debuted in 2006 with a self-titled release on Carpark Records that was ranked Pitchfork’s 16th best of 2006.

February 26 of this year, the band dropped their sophomore effort Devotion. Their sound has not changed, its only been aged in an oak barrel to add depth and color.  Devotion was met with warm critical success across the board.
