An Incendiary Show
I was front and center, dragging on a Camel light when Balaclavas took the Notusoh stage at the aptly named Noise and Smoke Fest. I didn’t know what to expect. I was; to be polite, ambivalent about the bands prior to the trio.
The show was bad ass. A mess of post-punk surf rock dingy brilliance — a bassist wielding a tape a recorder, an animatronic drummer, staccato blood yells through delayed microphones, tinges of distortion blazing from a keyboard, minimalist stains of melody — brilliant.
Enough of my waxing poetic. Go see the band, you should be so lucky. The next show is at The Mink December 3rd.
