November 20th David Guetta will be here in Houston!!

As one of the most in demand producers on the planet, David Guetta is poised to take electronic music out of the confines of the global underground, where he reigns as the No. 1 House DJ. Joining hands and forces with some of the biggest names on the urban scene, while introducing some undiscovered talents, another level beckons.
Already a multi-platinum selling artist in Europe, with three chart-topping albums to his name to date (Just a Little More Love 2002; Guetta Blaster, 2004; Pop Life, 2007), his signature sound of quirky, electro, house and dirty pop, is igniting across the rest of the world, where it was kept a club-land secret. Until now.

EMI Music will release Guetta’s much-awaited 4th album late August. It features guest vocals from Kelly Rowland, Will.I.Am, Novel and long time hit-maker Chris Willis, of course. Plus there are others too hot to mention yet. Guetta has also produced the forthcoming single by the Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feeling”.

His mission is to share the love and connection Dance music is built on while bringing together music scenes that co-exist but don’t often mix – like NERD, Timbaland and Kanye – but significantly, from another perspective. Call it Electro-Hop, R&B Dance, Hip House, whatever you want, but it’s the sound that will define 2009.

As an artist and producer, he makes music that rocks the coolest clubs and yet sits proudly on pop radio and MTV. He uniquely and boldly treads a tightrope most DJs wouldn’t dare to traverse too: the line between being an underground DJ and having huge crossover success.

That might not sound like two worlds that go together, but that he won a World Music Award and was voted the best house DJ in the DJmag Top 100 in the same year is a credit to his ability to work in both of these seemingly disparate worlds.

David knows what touches people; playing in over 200 cities last year alone and up to 2 million people at a time – as well as in underground basement jams; he should.

“I’m not trying to be credible,” David admits with a smile broadening across his soft, open face. “I’m trying to be incredible. It’s very easy to be underground because you just have to obey a set of codes. It’s very formulaic. But it’s also very easy to be totally pop, because it’s very formulaic too. I’m trying to do something different.”

With around 70 million hits on YouTube (and climbing fast), David is as popular outside of nightclubs as he is in them. In fact, David’s video’s hold the Number 1 and No 3 spots in the most watched Electronica clips on Youtube – worldwide and of all time!

To see Guetta wind a room into frenzy is something special. Technically David is one of the most impressive DJs in the house scene. Almost remixing records live, he makes loops, slams tracks together that you’d never think would go and uses vocals over other instrumentals. His sets are so dynamic that at times it’s difficult to see how he can keep the energy up. To put it simply, Guetta creates moments.

“Everything I’m trying to do – in my DJing, my production – is about sharing emotion. When I’m making music in the studio that’s all I’m looking for. It’s what matters the most.!”

“and the music don’t feel like it did with you”

is a lyric from The XX’s song Teardrop. Hailing from the Windish Agency is a London quartet of childhood friends, that share the same interest in anti-folk and 90s R&B. Their album share influences like Aaliyah to the Chromatics, the Pixies to Mariah Carey, and Cocorosie to Genuine, etc. So if you catch my drift, it’s quite nice to the ears. I fell for this quartet back in April… the soft vocals, experimental music notes, and the lyrics could get pretty deep and dark— and that is what i love. It seems kids nowadays are getting more and more talented, being that the XX is a group of four 19 year olds. That’s dope. What do they call it? Young Influentials. Yeah that’s right. I’ve been Hype Machining them before their album debuted and now that it’s out, it’s one of the most anticipated albums of 2009 according to Pitchfork. So I suggest you plug in your headphones or crank up your speakers and start listening to this album I’m about to share with you.

Brotha Lynch Hung and the Gas Station Mix Tape

Not sure if many of you got into the Sac Town criminal Brotha Lynch Hung as a youngster. Well this cannibal rapper had me from the get go with his baby eating raps. Something about the visuals of eating his prey and dead babies in his raps kept me listening to this “sicx made music”. So where has this man been ? Brotha lynch as of 2009 is now signed with famed Tech N9ne on his new label “Strange Music”. Lynch is about to release a new album entitled “Dinner and a Movie” in 2010, it seems The cannibalistic lyricist  is ‘CREEP’N ON A COME UP’.

So i got into a conversation witht his guy at a bar one night about Brotha Lynch and how he thought he might be in prison for doing what he actually rapped about. Well i thought this was an amazing end to his story, i mean if you’re going to rap about eating your girlfriends and babies you should at least eat them in real life right ?? well come to find out he hasn’t been eating any humans, but he has been making beats, twittering, and myspacing… Then again who hasn’t ? 2010 is the year BLH makes his return. With this new mix tape out called “Gas Station”, he brings out his new ideas and problems. Rapping about Myspace, Twitter and all those 22nd century gadgets it’s kinda hard to take a cannibal serious when he bumps his Myspace after picking the flesh out of his teeth.

Here’s the new mixtape on zip/rar

Central Booking Jams

So i took of this past weekend to check out what was going on in my old hood of Brooklyn… After not being able to make it back to see everyone in almost 3 years and then finally making my return to the big apple, only to be thrown into some ridiculous situations. Well i made it as far as to meet up with Baba G and Sabrina my old time friend and brother in midtown. 5 Hours later and a Paki that didn’t want to pay for his ride on the NY Transit to prospect park leaves me in a Brooklyn Jail for 25 hours. There’s not much you can do in Brooklyn jail with your Broadway musical shirt for “CATS” on, or my hipster short shorts with white tennis shoes. The most you get is odd looks and questions about your sexuality. Or like me you wake up to boxes of rice crispy’s being thrown at your head. It’s a good thing i needed a pillow on that hard floor, btw, Rice crispy boxes make for good pillows when in need..

So after being locked up for 20 hours i’m moved into a cell with another “white” kid who i’ve been seeing from cell to cell but never paid any attention to or attempted to make conversation with. Come to find out this guy also goes by the name of Eddie Mars. Friend of the famed DFA clique and well into throwing parties at his expanded warehouse in Bushwick. Funny thing is he was headed to buy a new keyboard before he was placed in jail with me. It seems white kids in Brooklyn Jail share one common theme, and that’s the Music. We got to talking about who was out there that we liked, what shows we were missing while being in jail, and later figuring out were into the same music. His trust in Lovefingers let me know he just might be onto something.

So i thought i would never see this guy again because my memory couldn’t hold a day past when he told me his name. I was more concerned into getting out of jail then meeting new friends. Well low and behold. He searhced me out on facebook, and thank god he has.

Eddie Mars is well on his way
